U is for Uniqueness. :)

In a world that is constantly attempting to morph all of society into this mold that is so highly spoken of-- a certain size, a certain style, etc. etc., I believe it is our job, especially as nannies and caregivers of children everywhere, to encourage uniqueness. Encourage individuality.

Speak highly of embracing that which makes us different-- our 'imperfections' are, in fact, the very traits that make us our own version of perfect. There is no one way to be. Everyone is born with the right to follow your heart into the world in any which way-- unique as can be-- as you desire-- that makes you happy.

Perhaps it's important to remind adults of this, as well. Uniqueness is a grand thing; it's what brings life to the world. Variety. Spunk. Excitement. If everyone was the same boring cookie-cutter of a person, what would there ever be to look forward to? The world would be so boring!

Be unique. Embrace your individuality, and encourage others to do the same.

It is the uniqueness, after all, that gets us remembered. Fall into the trap of 'acting as everyone else' and your name will soon be buried under a pile of no-name, 'average-joe' slaves to society.

Free yourself. Unleash your uniqueness. You were born for that very reason. ;)
