It's two days shy of having almost been an entire month without an entry. My sincerest apologies! In my defense, I have been so busy. From writing for Livestrong.com via Demand Media Studios to working 60+ hours weekly [all seven days], life has been at an all-time fast pace of go go go; no breaks!
Those who know me know I love this, but a break has become much needed, and it couldn't have came at a better time! The new family I'm working for is away for a week, so I have seven glorious days all to myself [well, six remain] to catch up on writing, health, and maybe even my social life, should I be so lucky.
I'll be sure to post hopefully daily until I go back to work next Thursday, because it will soon be another few weeks of crazy hours, but nothing I can't handle. I already miss the little one I'm caring for, and it's only been one day that I've been off work! That's how you know you love your job.
Anyway, it's 5 a.m. on a Friday, why I am even awake right now-- only God knows. I actually popped out of bed at 3:30 to flip my light on and take care of an immense urge to write.
Above is the result; a farewell letter to the first family I worked for here in California-- my Beverly Hills family. They moved to Atlanta last week, and I connected them with a great nanny friend of mine in their new city. While it's bittersweet to see them go, I feel better knowing the baby will be under such love and care as he was for the 11 months that I was his nanny.
That's the hardest part of the job, really-- letting go of families when the time comes to do so. It gets easier, though. Parting ways with my first family-- back in Michigan-- my gosh, that was difficult. This wasn't exactly easy, but it feels more like a new chapter for both of us, and I'll be visiting them as soon as I can. I think they will be lifelong friends-- a perk that not many other jobs may have. :)
Thank you, so much, for bearing with my lack of posts! It only means I've been a busy, busy bee. This is LA, after all. Just trying to steadily make my mark as a writer-nanny-hustLA. ;) Okay, that was cheesy. But hey, I'm a nanny. What do you expect?
Seriously though, thank you for reading. Stay tuned for more to come!
Best,
Brittney Schering
